Clean the lid of the bench with a damp cloth to remove any dust or other debris.

Use the exact measurement to buy a piece of foam 1 or 2 inches to fill the bench seat. Cut the decorator fabric from the measurement. Place the face of the decorator fabric down on a flat surface. Then, place the foam centered on the top of the fabric. Place the bench cover on top of the fabric. Make sure the bottom of the lid faces up.

Then, start on one side of the lid and put in a basic element in the middle to keep it in place. Go to the opposite side of the lid and say another basic element in the middle. Do the same with the other two sides. Continue your way of working around the bank cover until you have completely staples. Take your lining fabric and cut it 2 inches larger than the top of the bench. Times on the raw edges of the 1-inch cloth and iron to keep the pleats in place. Set the lining fabric on the bottom of the lid. Staple the lining fabric in place to cover the raw edges of the decorator fabric.
